Help for quiet time!
So my husband tried to do quiet time with him as well and we had an accident again. I think the issue is we are having trouble telling when he is whining because he is upset or he has to go outside. How would you handle this. Now we have had one successful quiet time and two accidents during other tries

Patterns and routines, remember dogs learn through repetitive patterns and routines. So, everytime you do Quiet Time, take him outside first to go potty, then do Quiet Time.
ReplyDeleteYou'll learn soon the difference in his tone and pitch what is just noise making/fussing and a "I gotta go!".
Just finished teaching my Retrieve Class and one of my students has left his grown dog here for 2 weeks so I can do a Board N Train. This dog has been coming here since the first of June training every week.
But today, he is staying with me.What is the first thing I do with this dog? Quiet Time with all my other dogs wanderinf about. Been at my computer now for over an hour and haven't successfullyy completed the 30 minutes consistently. What will I do? Sit here until he yields and gices me 30 consistent minutes in the Down position.
What routine did I do with this new dog now staying with me for the first time? Took him outside and commanded " Go Potty ", which he did, and then we came inside to do Quiet Time.
It is the easiest are fairest way to acclimate him to being here and teach him to relax.
